Hidden Compartment Storage for Nursery
We have been there. It is after the baby shower and you come home with hundreds of diapers, piles of onesies, clothes that your little one won’t even be able to wear for at least a year, an audio monitor, a video monitor, a little CD/Media player, more stuffed toys, maybe even a television to stream Mozart's music on. You walk into the cute little room that you have carefully painted and arranged, but where do you put all of this stuff? We have spent a lot of time thinking about hidden storage here at Stealth Furniture and are excited to share some of our great storage solutions with you. The goal is to keep your child’s room well stocked with the stuff that you need, without having towers of diapers tumbling from the shelves or garbage bags full of winter clothes and giant-onesies stuffed in the bottom of the closet.
One of our favorite new designs is our Headboard. In a child’s room over the course of the first four or five years you will be changing the bed out from a crib, to a low bed, to a regular bed. While time will see you swap out bed frames and mattresses, our headboard allows you to maintain a very cool storage solution that will stay with you as your child’s needs change. Stealth Furniture’s hidden compartment storage solutions will help you keep your their room free of the common clutter that can occur when you try to keep all things accessible. Our Headboard is a great place to store just about anything and keep it both accessible and out of sight. The two leg compartments easily swing open (when equipped with a touch latch) making wet wipes, diapers, and onesies accessible when you need them and invisible when you don’t. Hang a washable laundry bag half way down the compartment, put a diaper disposal bucket on the bottom and close it all up when you are done. When it is time to clean up your child, simply swing open the leg compartment, pull out the diaper, wipes and ointment, deposit the laundry in the bag, the diaper in your favorite air-tight diaper disposal solution, close the leg of the bed up and be on your way.
The large compartment of the headboard is a safe place to store basic night-time medical supplies that you need to get to quickly, but don’t want to have out on a surface or clogging up the medicine cabinet in your own bathroom: wash cloths, thermometers, Oragel (TM) for teething, Baby Tylenol, nursing cloths, nursing pumps, nursing pads, extra bottles and bags, extra blankets and sheets and mattress covers (for those night-time accidents where you have to wash everything and remake the bed in the middle of the night). Electronics that you want to have use of without making them the centerpiece of the room can easily be stored inside the main compartment. Simply open the bed up and the TV or audio system can be used, and then hidden away when you don’t want it accessible.

Our Wide Dresser is another one of our new favorites to keep essentials hidden yet easily accessible. In a child’s room, it is a great way to get everything that you need, where you need it, while keeping the stuff that you don’t want visible or cluttering up the room. Our Wide Dresser when used as a changing table is a great companion to the Headboard storage. Our Wide Dresser has four key areas that are going to make your life a lot easier. The back compartment has a fully equipped TV lift which will let you have a TV in your child’s room without having it out all of the time, screen time is not only controllable with a remote control, but the whole TV disappears when you don’t want it out. The top of the dresser has two separate large compartments (both the width of a drawer) that are perfect for storing anything that you want to keep accessible but out of sight and out of reach of the kids. This could be a place to store wash cloths, thermometers, Oragel for teething, Baby Tylenol, extra blankets and sheets and mattress covers for those night-time accidents where you have to wash everything and remake the bed in the middle of the night. Nursing cloths, nursing pumps, nursing pads, extra bottles and bags, electronics and other items will all fit in comfortably. You could even add in a drawer-organizer to get more functionality. If you have all of those items stored away in your headboard, the top compartments are easily utilized to store those winter clothes that you won’t need for another couple of months, or even those clothes that you won’t need for another year but don’t want to store in the attic.
If you have a couple of kids that are close in age and you are also dealing with trying to have spring, summer, fall and winter clothes all handy without taking a trip up to the attic every couple of months, this is a great place to keep those extras. When the season actually changes and the clothes actually fit, it is simple to put the ones that you will currently use down into the 6 drawers below and put the ones from the drawers up into the hidden storage under the sliding top. The sliding top is a great place to put a changing mat and will give you ample space to lay out clothes or fold laundry.

Hanging Picture Frames and Mirrors. (Insert link and photos here) Maybe you have the bed situation figured out and the dresser situation is solved. Our hanging Picture frames can mount to the wall, and one of our mirrors can actually be recessed into the wall (between the studs) to give you a medicine cabinet right in your child’s room. The secret compartment is hidden behind the picture or mirror front and is a hinged door that simply swings open once the lock is released. Any of our furniture can be equipped with a keypad coded lock, an RFID plastic-card lock that you swipe like an ID badge to open, or a simple touch-latch if you want touch-and-release access. Most babies are not mobile enough to get to high places and figure out latches, but as they get older, all of our furniture can have the advanced locks added later. If you just want to get the storage up high and hidden to begin with (where they won’t think to look) choose a mirror, or choose a picture frame. Our picture frames have a drop-in slot in the front giving you the ability to change out the decor of your child’s room whenever you want a refresh using any 16×20 foam-board printed picture from your collection. Vistaprint, Walmart and many others have very affordable printing services where you can upload your photos and pick them up in-store or ship them the same day starting at around $25. The shelves in the secret compartment can be used to store wash cloths, thermometers, Oragel for teething, Baby Tylenol, Nursing cloths, nursing pumps, nursing pads, extra bottles and bags, electronics and other items that you want to have accessible, but not visible.

All four of our Nightstand models have hidden compartments in them as well. The sliding-top design of our nightstands allows you to have the key items that you need to take care of your child in the night, stored securely away, but accessible in the place where you actually need them. The secret compartment can be used to store wash cloths, thermometers, Oragel TM for teething, Baby Tylenol, nursing cloths, nursing pumps, nursing pads, extra bottles and bags, electronics and other items that you want to have accessible, but not visible. Our nightstands each have a different design and a slightly different sized secret compartment. Your needs will probably point to one nightstand over another once you think through the options. To open any of the compartments go the center of the back of the top lid and simply push to release the touch latch, if you have an RFID lock, you will wave the plastic card past the same area. Our wireless Keypad lock allows for you to put a passcode into the keypad and the lock will open automatically after that. Our Type 1 has two closed shelves (bookshelf style) on the bottom and a medium-sized secret compartment under the sliding lid. Our Type 4 nightstand has the same footprint and the same compartment size as our Type 1 Nightstand but the closed shelves are replaced by two sliding drawers. Our Type 2 Nightstands and Type 3 Nightstands both have a single open shelf on the bottom and a square compartment on the top. Type 2 Nightstands have a single drawer in the top and a small hidden compartment at the back that is large enough to hold a thermometer, Oragel, Baby Tylenol, a flashlight, phone or other items like this. Our Type 3 Nightstand does away with the drawer and adds that space to the secret compartment so that you can now store nursing cloths, nursing pumps, nursing pads, extra bottles and bags, electronics and other items that you want to have accessible, but not visible. If you have extra special baby keepsakes that you want to keep or even investments or documents or other valuables that you want to keep in a very unexpected place, we also sell our Type 3 Nightstand pre-installed with a safe. We want to help you make your baby’s room a safe place that is cute and practical with all of the vital things that you need in there easily accessible but without the clutter.
